The joke, explained
Software can behave differently across computers because dependencies, settings, and environments differ. It works on my machine is the familiar response when code succeeds locally but fails elsewhere. The humor is that the statement can be true while doing very little to solve the other person's problem.

Questions
Why is one working machine such a familiar defense?
Local success does not guarantee software will work in another environment. The line captures the awkward moment when a truthful debugging observation sounds more like an excuse.
